January was Cool!

And I got down a very very rough draft of Bonsai Master’s Daughter, a book that I’ve got so very many ideas but no contract for yet, so playing with it was pure delicious in between deadlines self indulgence.

But we had difficult moments too. Hermione/ Minette/ The Duchess/ Doglet2 had to go for emergency surgery because of strange things growing so big inside her they something started poking out of her vulva! Horrors straight out of extreme bio Sci-Fi! It turned out to be polyps, fortunately benign. She’s an ‘older dog’ so we were worried for a while. But bless the wonderful people at the Animal Ark, she’s home and well.
Here she is, helping me with the gardening on her second day home:

Looking back, it was a good month, and though I’m tired, I’m grateful for so much.

And I must confess the High Point of the month was the couple of hours of total, luxurious self-indulgence that I spent reading Origin while eating a whole (giant!) durian all by myself with a huge thunderstorm going on outside. Life doesn’t get much better than this, a very good start to the year.
Hope you all had a good start to 2018 too!
